Scratch

Scratch Project Learn more about this project

Learning how to use scratch was fun, but confusing. We had to learn how to make a little animal move around the maze. This seems like it would be a hard prgram to learn if I did not have someone explaining it or at least a guide that shows me what I am supposed to do. This was a good program for people who like programming, and I am not very good at it, so I will probably not be using this in the future unless there is a project that requires it.

Hue/Saturation

HueSaturation_copy.jpg
Today we learned how to use Hue/Saturation. This allows you to play around with the colors, and "hues" in the picture. In the pictures with the smart cars the first one is the original which is pink, and I changed the hue of the picture to light blue, and then used the history brush to go back to the original background. In the picture with hands going in a circle I felt this portrays Empathy because it is almost like they are holding hands and having empathy for eachother.

Filters

FiltersEmpathyyy_copy.jpg

Using filters was very easy and it did not take many steps to get to the final outcome. The hardest step was using the history brush to get back to the original colors because I had never done this before. I will use this in the future for my other projects in this class along with my projects in other classes.

Cloning

Cloning_puppy_and_turtle_copy.jpg
In this picture I was trying to make it look like the puppy had empathy for the turtle. Because the turtle is in the shell it looks like the dog is trying to make a shell out of the blanket. When working with cloning you can make things look like they are in the real picture when they are not, or take something out of a picture without anyone knowing it was there.

Cropping

Me&fingerpainting_copy.jpg
The picture behind my school picture are a little kids hands. This displays Empathy because children often are very Empathetic. For this project we had to find a picture online that sums up our attitude, crop out our school picture, and make them into one picture.

Getting Tricky With Wiki

Welcome to Nikki's Home Page!(:

This is a blinking message, except it doesn't work

Getting Tricky With Wiki was a quick and easy thing to learn. All we had to do was go onto gettingtrickywithwiki.com, click on text effects, copy the code, paste it and then type in what you want it to say. The only problem while woking on getting tricky with wikis is that the second text was supposed ot blink but never ended up working for mine, otherwise it made my wiki page a lot cooler.

Monkey Mail

Today Alexa Julianna and Dylan taught us how to use monkey mail. First we went to our website, created our monkey and then added a voice to it by typing in the text we wanted it to say. This was a really funny program that I enjoyed experimenting with.

Voki

Voki was the easiest project in my opinion. This might have been because this was the project assigned to my group to teach to the class. This caused me to learn the most information about it, because to teach a subject, you have to know the subject really well.

Layers

Layers.jpg

I was happy to do the layers project because I was absent when the rest of the class did it, so it felt good to catch up. Learning how to use layers was not as exciting as the other projects we have done. I will probably not use this knowledge again unless I need to use it to do something harder.

Paint

Paint_Anika_copy.jpg

This picture was meant to portray empathy and will be on my collage. The picture is showing a little boy crying and his friend is trying to cheer him up. Empathy means that you feel bad for others in pain and try to make them feel better.

Poll Daddy

Experiencing with Poll Daddy was really cool. It was fun trying to come up with a good question my classmates would be interested in, and hard to come up with accurate answers. Although I will most likely not use again this knowledge again I enjoyed learning about it.

Word Editing

4_kids-also_cropped.gif
This Word Cropping project was a helpful skill to learn. Our task was to play around with pictures using colors, shapes and sizes. This new ability will help me benefit in other classes, such as in photo project journals it would be more interesting to look at a picture with a bold frame, instead of just the picture alone.

Tagxedo

tagxedo_foot_and_maby_more_in_the_future.jpg
Tagxedo was simple yet helpful project that will make my project t the end of thisclass turn out a lot better. Our task was to go onto Tagxedo.com add a list of words you want your picture to include, then pick the color, shape, size and layout of these words. Since my project is based on the word "Empathy" you will see it it repeated a few times in my tagxedo, along with other words that are symonyms of Empathy. I picked the foot shape because I thought it was unique and would be cool to look at.

My avatar

Avatar.jpeg
This is a picture of my Avatar, which was a very fun project. We could choose whether to make our avatar look like ourselves or just do it completely random. Obviously I chose to make mine random and put butterfly wings, a snake tongue, penguin body, peacock feather and frog arms.

Collage

Final_Project_copy.jpg
This was a fun project to do because we got to combine all of the best projects into one. It was fun to be reminded about all of the cool things we learned this trimester in technology. I will use the skills I learned in the future in other classes or maybe even this class if I get it again.

Participate in discussions with classmates (see discussion tab at top on student pages) was a quick and easy to manage
